I've decided that Halloween (or Harvest Day as mumzie would say) is wonderful purely because of the apples in season. A few weeks ago I was able to go help pick a gazallion apples at an apple orchard. It was so festive and fun. I loved it and decided I am most definitely having an orchard when I grow up. Orrr at least 1-3 BIG trees. Let's be real.
Then I got to go see this little guy and my fun sister Ashlee - check out her blogland. It's adorable is all!
We put some of the apples to good use. Missy (Ashlee) bakes an amazing apple pie. For reals, we're all jealous of her skills. Luckily she agreed to teach me quite late at night because I was leaving in the morning, hence the jammies. And this was our amazing result!
You're salivating right?
Then I came home and made more scrumptious apple things: Apple Betty.
I forgot to take an after picture of both. But I think it's safe to say this is EXACTLY what it looked like in the end.
Right.
Marmie's Apple Betty is the best. And here's how the magic is done. Am I really putting a recipe on my blog? This is a historical event people!
1+ cup old fashioned rolled oats
1 cup brown sug
1/2 cup flour
1 tea cinnamon
1/4 tea salt
1 cube butter, softened
appies
sugar
Mix all the dry ingredients together. Then coarsely mix in butter, then set aside. Peel, core and cut up about 8 or 9 apples, depending on the size. Pick apples that cook well and have some tartness. Put in baking pan, then sprinkle with a few tablespoons of granulated sugar. The more tart the appies, the more sugar you need. Mix it up a bit so all the appies are covered. Sprinkle the topping on the apples, covering them all. Bake at 350 for about 45 min. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream--you know.

Divine I tell you. Now go make it and give it away to someone! You'll be happy and they will be jumping for joy.
Hope you have a marvelous Harvest!
